It was a beautiful day filled with pride and joy as my husband and I attended the Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus (PhilSci-CVisC) Recognition Rites 2025 to celebrate a special milestone in our daughter's academic journey. She made it to the Director’s List for SY 2024–2025, now in her Grade 8 year — and we couldn’t be prouder!

We arrived at the school just in time. The parking area was already full, which is always a good sign of strong family support and excitement in the air. Despite the hustle and bustle, we managed to make it to the venue just as the program was about to begin. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy — students with medals gleaming, proud parents snapping pictures, and teachers greeting families with warm smiles.

A Celebration of Excellence

The event was organized to honor the hard work and achievements of Pisay scholars, and as parents, it was truly heartwarming to witness so many young minds being recognized for their diligence and academic excellence. Watching our daughter walk across the stage as a Director’s Lister felt surreal. We saw in her the result of long nights of studying, persistent curiosity, and the drive to always give her best.

A Family Feast at Hungry Steak House

After the event, we knew it was time to make the celebration even more special — and what better way than with good food and family time? We headed to Hungry Steak House, one of our daughter’s favorite places to dine.

She ordered her favorite Carbonara, along with a sweet cupcake treat that had a personal dedication written on top — a simple yet touching way to cap off her special day. The rest of us shared a delightful spread that included:

* Their signature Porterhouse beef steak

* Creamy scallops

* Savory onion soup

* Chicken and shrimp combo meal

* A creative take on fish tinola

* Yummy salmon sashimi served with platter rice, cucumber, and

* Iced tea and juices for our drinks

The staff was notably attentive this time — they took our orders carefully and managed to serve everything within 15 to 20 minutes, which is quite impressive given the crowd.

The food was generally delicious — the porterhouse was tender, the scallops perfectly seasoned, and the salmon sashimi fresh and clean-tasting. The only dish that didn’t quite hit the mark was the fish tinola, which seemed slightly stir-fried rather than cooked the traditional way we're used to. Also, the beverages weren’t as cold as expected, but they were quick to provide us with extra ice cubes when we asked.

Grateful and Proud

As a mom, this day was another reminder of how time flies and how each achievement — big or small — deserves to be celebrated with love and intention. Seeing our daughter beam with pride, surrounded by her siblings and enjoying her favorite meal, made all the hard work and sacrifices worth it.
