Lambug White Beach in Badian on Sembreak.

Going to the beach in Summer is everyone's destination to look for but hey we do it on Sembreak. Why? If you're that kind of being that's not a fan of many people around, then this is the best time to saunter that shoreline without many distractions on your sight. My family loves to go to the beach around this time of the year where the beach is not that too crowded. Our kids had this one week no class opportunity on sembreak. So we spent two days and one night at one of the white beaches in the South of Cebu. Lambug White Beach in Badian is one of the white beaches that you and your family will enjoy. Badian has so much to offer aside from swimming on the white beach, canyoneering in Kawasan Falls and ziplining are among of them to try. So here's our family travel experience at Lambug White Beach in Badian, Cebu.

How To Get There?

From our place in Lapu-Lapu City, it's a 3-hour drive of about 120 kilometers excluding traffic and stopovers along the way. Otherwise, cutting trips are also applicable. From Tamiya Terminal through jeep to South Bus Terminal then by bus to Badian. Updated bus fares are listed on the prime spot inside the area or you can ask the bus ticketing staff for sure.
Going to the beach area is not that easy as what you think about most beaches. It's tricky and not easy to navigate. Be sure to have the Waze app installed on your phone or printed map while on the go.

Where To Stay?

Searching online for accommodation in Lambug White Beach is the practical way to do other than referrals. AGODA.COM and Facebook might give you the relevant results of your search and the best deals being offered by the time you're searching. Here I'm citing the beach resort where we stayed and other resorts we've seen nearby the beach area during our morning stroll along the beach line.

Family Travel Tips Going to Badian, Cebu:

  • ➤ Start early in the morning when travelling to beat the traffic jam ahead. We started going around 6:00 am on Tuesday. Then going back to the city around 5:00 pm on Wednesday.
  • ➤ For 2 Days and 1 Night in the beach, make sure to have at least 3 pairs of swim wear for the kids. Don't forget to bring swimming googles because it's very rare to find one in that place and if there's any surely price is much higher compare to the mall price in the city.
  • ➤ Bring printed map before going to the beach or have a screen shot of the map on your phone. Mobile signal is intermittent on some areas.
  • ➤ Bring neck pillows for kids to sleep on while on the go and reusable plastics for trash keeping.
  • ➤ Bring enough drinking water and healthy snacks.
  • ➤ Don't forget to reload your prepaid mobile internet though WIFI is available on some beach resorts.

The Love of Barbecue at Mactan Alfresco.

On Sunday nights, we opt to dine out. Eating barbecue of pork, chicken, and fish is the usual last minute option to escape the fast food restaurants. This time we ate barbecue at one of the food houses at Mactan Alfresco in Newtown Blvd, Lapu-Lapu City. We've been here many times usually after going to church. There are many food houses inside Mactan Alfresco like one preparing grilled foods, lechon, seafoods, coffee drinks, and beverages like milk teas. Within the area, there are Tamaraw jeepneys stationed on a prime spot with tables and chairs inside used for dining aside from the provision. There's also small playground with swings and slide for youngsters to play while waiting for their meals. So I can say it's a family friendly restaurant. Kids will enjoy playing instead of making tantrums.

While waiting for our pork barbecue orders, we sat down inside on one of those jeepneys. Aside from barbecue, they offer local soups like Tinolang Manok (chicken),  Nilagang Baboy (Pork), and other soups. For price of Php 20 per pork barbecue, Php 10 for one serve of rice and beverage for an SRP price, you can a have feast of your entire family without robbing one's pocket. Enjoy eating at Mactan Alfresco while watching the "Puso" light decorations everywhere.

A week in Manila, Philippines.

Going to somewhere sounds fun, right? This September we've been to Manila. It's our first time to travel in Manila with the whole family and coach friends. Few weeks ago, our son's team MES Robotics of Marigondon Elementary School won the Lapu Lapu City Robotics Cup 2019 held at Hoopesdome, Lapu Lapu City. So they became the national qualifiers for the 18th Philippine Robotics Olympiad at SM North Edsa last September 2-6, 2019. Being Top 3 among the 90 plus robotics teams from all over the country during Elimination Round was their great milestone in joining the robotics competition this year. Before going home, here's our short visit of the popular tourist spots in Manila, Philippines.

Some say you've never been in Manila if you didn't step your feet in Intramuros. So, a day before our flight going back home we've come to visit the Luneta Park, Fort Santiago, National Museum of Cultural History, Intramuros and Binondo. We've also visited the UP Diliman, Quiapo Church, Malacanang Palace (outside only because we didn't make a booking ahead), Trinoma (Ayala Mall in Manila) and the famous Grand Venice Canal in Mckinley Hills,Taquig City.
Our Dora exploration began by walking ourselves from Eurotel in North Edsa going to the LRT station in Roosevelt. Our kids were so excited because it's their first time to ride a train except for our youngest, a second time for her. From Roosevelt station to United Nation station, it only cost us Php 30 each to arrive the Luneta Park. From Luneta Park, we rode a "Kalesa" for Php 350 per 30 minutes ride. Just enough to stroll around the Luneta Park going the entrance of Intramuros area. Inside Intramuros, we've experienced the Spanish era on modern times. We saw the big black entrance gate of Fort Santiago, sorbetes (ice cream) vendors on shaded areas, and few soldiers wearing the Spanish soldier uniforms aka Guardia Sibil (civil guard). Accordingly, you can buy a property inside Intramuros if and only if you'll retain the Spanish architectural design of the building. We've seen the "Palacio Del Gobernador", the house of the Governor General of the Philippines during the Spanish time. Across the street is the rebuilt Manila Cathedral of the Philippines. When you came inside the Holy place, you'll be amazed the interior designs and statues of the saints. Going a little bit farther, we ended the the historic St. Augustine Church. We got inside and bought few ref magnet souvenir items outside the church premises. From there, we went ahead through Grab car transport for less than Php 500 and found ourselves at the world's oldest Chinatown in Binondo. We've tasted the "Ukoy"(the fried squash) for the first time, dumpling and Buko pie are also popular in the area. From Chinatown, we rode a tricycle going to Dorotheo Jose LRT Station for only Php 120. We passed through the Binondo Church Facade but didn't get a chance to get inside maybe next time. Going back to Roosevelt Station from Dorotheo Jose Station, it's the same fare for all (student and adult) of Php 30 each. Our day ended well and exhausted but full of awe and memories to linger. Until our next family adventure it doesn't matter where.
