A Joyful Milestone at Southwestern University PHINMA Nursing Capping, Badge Investiture, and Candle Lighting Ceremony

One of the most meaningful moments in our parenting journey was witnessing our eldest daughter’s Capping, Badge Investiture, and Candle Lighting Ceremony at Southwestern University PHINMA. The event was held at the elegant Waterfront Hotel and Casino, where families and friends gathered to celebrate this important milestone in the lives of nursing students.

Our daughter was part of the afternoon session, which ran from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. We picked her up from her dorm and went straight to the venue. Thankfully, we arrived just on time. Although we didn’t catch her during the processional march because of the large crowd, we were still filled with excitement knowing she was already in her place. Before entering the ballroom, we were able to buy her a beautiful big bouquet—something she could keep as a lasting souvenir of this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
The program opened with welcome remarks before the most awaited moments began—the Capping, Badge Investiture, and Candle Lighting. Seated in the middle of the guests’ area, we eagerly waited until we finally saw our daughter, graceful in her white nursing uniform, step onto the stage. The official guest of honor placed the nurse’s cap on her head, a powerful symbol of her entry into the noble profession. The ceremony continued with the candle lighting, signifying her pledge of compassion, service, and dedication as an official nursing student.
The special day took place on September 12, 2025, marking not only a milestone for our daughter but also a blessing for us as parents. She is pursuing nursing as her chosen pre-medicine course, and this ceremony means she is already halfway through her journey in the College of Nursing, Class of 2028. Her dream is to become a doctor, and this was a remarkable step forward in that direction.
We are deeply grateful to God for allowing us to witness this chapter in her life. We continue to pray for guidance for her and her colleagues as they walk the path of service in the nursing profession. As parents, we also pray for strength and provision to support her and her siblings in completing their education. This remains our greatest dream—for all our children to achieve their goals and use their talents to serve others.
The Capping, Badge Investiture, and Candle Lighting Ceremony was more than just an academic tradition—it was a celebration of perseverance, dedication, and faith. It is a memory our family will cherish forever.
