Summer in August at SUBIC BAY!

Speaking of Summer Vacation, everyone loves it you know. This summer, my family goes to Subic Bay, Zambales Philippines. Why Subic Bay? It’s because it’s the place where the 22nd Philippine Robotics Olympiad 2023 will be held where our sons are contestants of the event. Since it falls to Summertime, let’s go to Subic Bay without a second thought.

How to go Subic Bay?

If you’re Cebu based, you can take a plane from Mactan International Airport for an hour ride to Clark International Airport. Then a bus/van ride for two hours at the least to go to Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The plane fare around this time of the year is around Php 3,000. The bus fare is Php500 person or take a van for Php 4000 for 4-6 people can ride. We're so lucky enough to meet a transport service with a very reasonable price and good service to us. Thank you Kuya Mike, for sending us safely to Clark International Airport on time despite of waiting us for so long at the event area since awarding time came very late as scheduled. Click here if you'd like to avail the transport service.

Where to stay in Subic Bay?

There are many hotels and condo for rents around the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. You may search through Agoda or Booking.com to find the best deals for room accommodations. My family prefers to stay at Treasure Island Resort in Long Beach, Baloy, Subic Bay, Zambales.

TREASURE ISLAND RESORT

Treasure Island Resort is a beach resort with a long beachfront access. The facilities of the resort include signature pool inside the premises, beachfront access of the Long Beach in Baloy, Restobar, and Diving Shop.  The family room accommodation starts Php 3,000- 5000 per night with FREE BREAKFAST for two.

During our stay at the resort for 4 Days and 3 Nights, we had a great experience at the resort. Starting from the spacious & neat room we’d stayed, the food and cocktails at the Restobar, accessible beach right infront of the resort, and the courteous & hospitable staffs.

What to do in Subic Bay?

If you come to Subic Bay purely for leisure, many tourist spots and activities you can engage with just coordinate with the hotel resort management for the available water sports they have and the tourist transport service they recommend. You and your family can do swimming, beach walking, do some  Beach Yoga if you like, engage with different available water sports, or just sit down and watch the beach while sipping your favorite cocktail drinks.

In our case, our family came to Subic Bay for our sons' robotic competition to attend with and a family vacation as well since we all together visited the place and it's during school break. But then, our time we're divided to go back and forth to the venue of the event, the Subic Bay Gymnasium at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the hotel resort. We arrived Subic Bay in Zambales a day before the robotic competition event, so we had whole day to relax and get used to the place and hotel resort. We even visited the venue for the competition to check the area before the competition and stroll the nearby mall and cafes around Subic Freeport Zone. We visited the following sites during our stay at Subic Bay, Zambales. And this is how our Subic Bay experience becomes so memorable! We bring home good memories like winning the competition as 1st Placer for 22nd Philippine Robotics Olympiad 2023 in Robo Sports Category Double Tennis. The MNHS Robotics Team will represent our country as part of the Philippine Robotics National Team to compete in the World Robotics Olympiad 2023 in Panama on November 7-9, 2023.
